DFW Golden Hour Maternity

There are some sessions that just stick with you—ones that feel less like a job and more like a front-row seat to something beautifully sacred. Karla and Tristan’s maternity session was exactly that. Pure golden hour magic, wrapped in nostalgia, love, and the sweetest kind of anticipation.

Karla and Tristan’s story doesn’t start here or even in the U.S.—it began all the way in South Africa, where they grew up alongside each other. Their lives were interwoven from the very beginning, sharing memories and the kind of connection that most people only dream of. After high school, Karla moved to the States and stepped into the next chapter of her life. A few years later, Tristan followed, they got married, and now? They’re counting down the final weeks until they meet their baby. Typically, when I meet parents to be the gender of their little love is already known, BUT in this story, it’s a surprise. Are you team boy or team girl? — Having 5 nephews, I am ALWAYS team girl.

Our maternity session took place during the dreamiest golden hour, and the vibe? Effortless. We talked, we laughed, we soaked in the light. It wasn’t about stiff poses or forced smiles—it was about letting the love between them unfold naturally in front of the lens. The warmth between them was palpable, and every photo feels like a quiet whisper of everything they’ve been through and everything they’re stepping into.

There’s something extra magical about photographing first-time parents, especially ones who carry such a rich history together. You can feel the depth. The comfort. The sheer joy of the unknown.

If you’re dreaming of a maternity session that’s natural, emotive, and soaked in light, this is your sign. Let’s create something together that feels like you.

authentic, connected, and deeply beautiful. Reach out and let’s start planning your own golden hour story.
